Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Yes. The fieldwork can be done with companion dogs, shelter dogs, dogs in your neighbourhood, or any dog you have regular access to. Free-living dogs are a central part of the program as a source of knowledge, but your observation practice can begin wherever you are. What matters is that you are willing to observe without controlling the interaction. The setting is secondary to that.
It can be, if you are a deeply curious dog person for whom this has moved beyond casual interest into something more serious. This program is not structured around professional certification or behaviour modification frameworks. It is built around observation, reflexivity, and genuine inquiry. If that is where you are in your relationship with dogs, your background matters less than your readiness.
If you are new but genuinely motivated, yes. You do not need to have a polished observation practice. This program is designed to build one. What you do need is a real willingness to sit with discomfort, examine your assumptions, and do the fieldwork honestly. Curiosity and commitment matter more here than prior experience.
Each month opens with a prompt, a specific direction to take into your field work. The prompt is connected to the larger question we will be sitting with that month, so your observations in the field and the conversations in the group stay in dialogue with each other. There is an ongoing private group where you can share what is coming up between calls. Each month includes two live calls: one where we observe and discuss a video together in real time, and one where we unpack the threads, questions, and observations that have been building through the month, working toward the question that has been holding us. Everything is built around doing the field work and bringing it back to the group.
Realistically, 2–4 hours a week: field observation, written reflection, and group engagement. The live calls happen twice a month. The fieldwork is cumulative, meaning the more consistently you show up for it, the more you will get out of the container.
Live calls will be recorded and shared within the group for those who miss them. However, I would highly encourage you to attend these group calls live to ensure we bring more richness to the discussions.
No. This program does not offer certification or CEU hours. It is a practice-based learning container focused on shifting how you observe, not on credentialling what you know. It is also a space to serve those who want to learn and invest in learning for the sake of learning and one's own curiosity.
There are no refunds offered once the payment is made.

the sessions.
The number of Consulting sessions depends on the case. I suggest at least three sessions (i.e., three hours).
The sessions are broken to 2 separate steps.
Step 1 – we focus on collecting all the information necessary to evaluate the case and understand your goals and expectations. We also talk about the basic theory that lays the foundation for all the suggestions and recommendations made. No recommendations can be made till we get the entire history and information necessary for me to work on your case.
Step 2 – you will receive recommendations that help you understand your dogs, understand their needs, improve communication, manage difficult situations and achieve your goals and help your dog. These will include but not limited to lifestyle, activities, body language, stress management, outdoor management, health management, pain management and more.
Yes. I have worked on a variety of issues ranging from nipping, jumping, biting, anxiety, separation anxiety, pulling on leash and many similar behaviours that are traditionally viewed as “undesirable” behaviours in dogs.
At Dog Pawmise, I address behaviours holistically. This is to say that behaviours are a result of a variety of factors like ethogram (natural behaviours in the species, here – DOGS), personality, physical health, threshold to stress, social interactions, environment and body language communication. By diving into all these factors, we build the full picture and help the dog parents to
see what exactly is happening in the dog’s body and mind. It is important to figure out the underlying reasons for the behaviour to make a long-term sustainable emotional and cognitive change.
The idea is to empower the dog parents with information, tools and techniques that they can use for their dogs. Because of this, a Canine Behaviour Consultant’s work is largely to do with human caregivers of the dog(s).
The approach puts the dog’s welfare at the centre and helps in promoting a healthy and harmonious relationship between the humans and the dog(s).
There are critical portions of the dog's life that I may not be able to access just by visiting. Additionally, the dog's behaviour in a stranger's presence may be very different from day-to-day life. Finally, it is unethical for me to put a dog forcibly in a situation that is stressful for the dog and replicate any behaviours you want help with. It is enough for me to get all the information about the dog to help you (the dog parents) without having to meet the dog. Despite not having met the dog, I review all the information provided by the clients as well as the videos shared to assess the case.
I will be working with the dog parents/caregivers. Driving a dog's health needs, environmental and social needs are always facilitated by their caregivers. I help your dogs through you.
We can discuss in-person sessions if you are based in Bengaluru, but it will be considered on case-to-case basis at a different pricing than online sessions. Please bring this up when you talk to me in the Discovery Call.

I do not provide board and train services. At Dog Pawmise, I address behaviours through the biosociopsychological lens. Since the changes recommended need to be implemented by the clients and in the house environment of the dog, board and train services don’t work well with my approach.
Offline sessions are available for Bangalore clients on case-to-case basis. This will be assessed and planned in advance with the client. They will also be at an extra cost.
For the first 3-4 sessions, ideally not more than 3 weeks. These are the most critical sessions. We assess the case and share the most important changes that need to be implemented. For clients to start working with their dogs, these sessions have lesser gap between them.
Between the subsequent sessions, anywhere between 3 to 6 weeks. Since the clients need to start implementing the suggestions and try it consistently for a few weeks before figuring out possible challenges, there is a longer gap between these sessions.
However, if because of unforeseeable circumstances, the client takes longer to schedule the sessions, we can still pick it up where we left off. Once you purchase the sessions, the purchase has a validity period and you will need to schedule the session within the validity. There is usually a week's waiting since the slots get booked out soon. So schedule your sessions accordingly.
No refund will be processed in case you do not schedule within the validity period (unless I was out of office during that period).
Once you book the session on the website, if it is your first session, you will get an intake form and list of videos which need to be submitted 1 day (business day) prior to our session.
For every other session, you just pay for the session and book it on the calendar. If there are any further requirements (videos or other form of information) you need to share as might have been discussed in our session, you will need to share that 1 business day prior to the session date as well.
If you have booked a multiple session package, we can plan all your session dates in advance or book the sessions as and when we finish a session. The rest of the process remains the same.

Since the approach is to understand your dog, understand their needs and lifestyle, age does not prove to be a barrier for the work.
The process remains the same for any number of dogs. You will need to provide all information about all the dogs at home. Since the dogs share the same home and same caregivers, bulk of the recommendations overlap for them. There will be a portion of recommendations that is very specific to each dog. The only difference might be that more number of dogs means we may get to cover lesser material in the 1 hour duration and hence may need more sessions in order to address all the points required.
